Grief Support in Colorado

First Steps is a focused 90-minute grief session designed to help you make sense of what’s happening and figure out what might help from here.

What this is

In the early days and months after a loss, even the basics can feel impossible. Eating, sleeping, making decisions, getting through work, responding to people, or figuring out what you need can quickly zap your energy.

Grief can leave you with a lot of questions and very little sense of direction. You might be wondering whether what you’re experiencing is normal, whether therapy would actually help, or what kind of support you need in the first place.

You don’t have to figure all of that out before reaching out.

This is simply a place to begin.

What’s Included

A person's hands holding various seashells over a sparkling body of water.

We’ll spend 90 minutes slowing things down and looking at what grief is actually like for you: what feels hardest, what’s getting in the way of everyday life, what questions keep coming up, and what kind of support might make things a little more manageable.

Depending on what you need, we might:

  • Make sense of reactions or changes that have been confusing or worrying you

  • Talk about what grief can look like emotionally, physically, cognitively, and relationally

  • Identify what feels most difficult right now

  • Look at the support you already have and where something might be missing

  • Talk through practical ways to care for yourself in the weeks ahead

  • Consider whether ongoing therapy, a grief group, community support, or something else might be useful

What to Expect

First Steps is intentionally designed as a standalone session. There’s no expectation that you’ll become a weekly therapy client afterward.

If we decide together that ongoing therapy could be helpful and you’d like to continue working with me—we can talk about that. If something else seems like a better fit, I’ll help you think through those options too.

Either way, the session should be useful on its own.

During our time together, some of our work will be very practical: focusing on supporting you with getting enough food, sleep, movement, and rest, and finding ways to feel a little steadier when grief feels overwhelming.

We’ll make sense of how grief impacts your brain, body, emotions, and everyday life—including work, relationships, and all the things that still need your attention.

And there’s space for whatever you’re carrying: talking about your loss, remembering the person you’re grieving, getting clearer about what you need, and figuring out how to ask for support.

No commitment to ongoing therapy required.
